Welcome to SENCO / SENCO refresher

This is a 2 part event and delegates who book on should attend both parts. A maximum of 2 delegates per setting can book onto this event.

This training will cover what you need to know as a SENCo in Staffordshire. It covers how to make a referral to the SENIS team and what you need to know to work alongside Early Years Forum. We cover what to expect on visit from an Early Years Advisory Senco (EYAS) team member and how to keep effective records and an overview of children with SEND in your setting.

Event Outline:

Part 1 - 

• Develop an awareness of the role of the EYAS team and how a consultant can support you in your setting.
• Understand how to support children with SEND needs in your setting 
• Know which information you need to share with Early Years Forum and how to apply for SENIF
• Know how to monitor children in your setting and which outside agencies you can contact for support.

Part 2 - 

• What is Early Years Forum?
• What does Forum need me to do as SENCO?
• What is Special Educational Needs Inclusion Funding (SENIF) and how do I apply for this?
• How do I keep track of all the children with SEND?
• What if I need some SEND training for myself or my setting?

Learning Outcomes:

You will:

Target Audience / Prerequisites:

• For EY settings SENCOs who have previously attended New to SENCO training and would like a refresher
• SENCOs new to the role
• Event is open to childminders

All places must be booked through the Practitioner Hub. If you attend training without having a place booked in your name then unfortunately you will not be recorded as attending and will not receive a certificate or evaluation. Please ensure that places are cancelled if you are unable to attend.  If a booking needs to be updated as a different person from a setting will be attending, then support can be provided for this.
